In this version, it also features the patented NOMOS date mechanism with an extra-large window in the exact same color as the dial.
The golden "neomatik" lettering is a reference to the innovative date caliber DUW 6101 at work within. It contains a proprietary escapement, known as the NOMOS swing system, a patented date mechanism, numerous traditional finishes, and is finely regulated in six positions.
In the NOMOS date mechanism, the date ring is placed around the outside of the movement, resulting in a large date display and a slender movement. In addition, the date wheel is four times smaller than usual, which means it turns four times in 24 hours—and has a locking time of only 90 minutes.
With a thick bezel, crown guard and screw-down crown, as well as colorless anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both sides, the stainless steel case of Ahoi neomatik 38 date is robustly built. A red (warning) ring warns the wearer when the crown is not fully screwed down.
An elegant sports watch—the thin caliber from NOMOS Glashütte at work within is what makes it possible. The stainless steel case with characteristically angled lugs is only 9.8 millimeters in height.
