NOMOS in Glashütte

The company
NOMOS Glashütte is an owner-operated, independent company, founded in 1990 by Roland Schwertner. The company headquarters are located in Glashütte—the traditional home of German watchmaking. NOMOS senior management team was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 2024 for the company's commitment to democracy and openness to diversity, as well as for its significant contribution to the international reputation of the watchmaking town.

NOMOS train station
NOMOS Glashütte operates from five buildings in the town. The "train station", known as Bahnhof in German, is the headquarters of NOMOS Glashütte. In addition to senior management and administration, the product development, sales, logistics, and service departments are also housed in the building. Incidentally, train services have not been discontinued as a result. The modern glass extension, used as a meeting room, looks directly onto the tracks.
NOMOS production
NOMOS Glashütte has its own production hall in the Schlottwitz district of the greater Glashütte area. This is where the production and fine machining of caliber parts for NOMOS watches takes place. The building was constructed in 2017 according to modern sustainability principles; the façade is made of local larch wood, it is partially powered by electricity generated by NOMOS, and it also reuses excess heat generated by the machinery for heating.

NOMOS chronometry
NOMOS calibers are constructed, assembled, regulated, and encased in a historic building overlooking Glashütte. One hundred years ago, a workshop for marine chronometers was housed here. Today, the building still offers the peace and concentration needed to manufacture high-precision timepieces. In 2014, the building was doubled in size with an extension, and since then has offered even more space for more watchmakers.

It takes experience and a steady hand to insert this proprietary escapement, known as the NOMOS swing system.
NOMOS Forum
The former Catholic church in Glashütte stood empty for many years—until NOMOS took over the building, renovated it, and transformed it into a venue for events and residencies. Since 2020, trade fairs of a different kind have been held here. Every year in late summer, NOMOS Glashütte invites industry insiders to meet in the converted church. The in-house watch fair known as Forum NOMOS Glashütte has become a recurring event in the calendars of guests from around the world.

The presentation of new watches is always accompanied by specialist lectures; the picture shows Mirko Heyne, head of the NOMOS Research & Development department.
NOMOS flagship store
Glashütte is also home to the NOMOS flagship store, known as the NOMOS Kaufhaus. In addition to the current watch collection, rare limited-edition pieces are available here—and of course straps, travel cases, and other beautiful things from the world of NOMOS Glashütte. Personalized advice and expert customer service included.

The NOMOS flagship store is located in a place steeped in tradition. This building housed Ferdinand Adolph Lange's first workshop in Glashütte, where the history of mechanical watchmaking in Glashütte began on December 7, 1845. The Glashütte watch museum is located diagonally opposite on the same square.
