FAQ
Winding and setting the watch
Winding the watch
Wind your watch by turning the crown clockwise (upwards) with your thumb and index finger until you cannot move it any more. Your watch will appreciate it if you do this regularly. When fully wound, NOMOS watches have a power reserve of between 42 and 53 hours, depending on the caliber. The Lux and Lambda models only need to be wound once every 84 hours. Watches with a power reserve indicator are wound just like watches without this complication. If the red gauge on the power reserve indicator is completely full, your watch needs to be wound; you can do so by turning the crown again.
Setting the time
To set the time, pull the crown out slightly to the second position on all calibers—except DUW 4601 (you will notice a slight click). The second hand will stop and the watch will not tick during setting. You may want to use a radio-controlled clock to set the hands correctly, so that you can press the crown back against the case and return it to its original position at the moment when your watch shows the correct time to the second.
When setting the time on watches with the DUW 4101 and DUW 4401 date calibers, be careful not to accidentally change the date. This cannot happen with the DUW 4601 date caliber, as the time is set in the third crown position rather than the second. To do this, pull the crown out twice and then push it back against the case.
Setting the date
a) Setting the date in the calibers DUW 4101 and DUW 4401
You set the date by turning the hour hand back and forth between 8 o'clock and 1 o'clock. If you want to correct your watch from September 1 to September 16, for example, you don't have to set it forward by 24 hours 15 times; 15 half turns will suffice. First, set your watch to 1 o'clock at night so that the date changes. Then turn the hands counterclockwise to 8 o'clock. Now turn them forward again to 1 o'clock: the date will change again. And so on. When you then set the time, please make sure that you pay attention to whether it is currently morning or afternoon—so that the date does not accidentally change at noon instead of midnight.
b) Quick date adjustment in caliber DUW 4601
The date can be set particularly easily on watches with DUW 4601. Pull the crown out to the second position and turn it counterclockwise. A half turn corresponds to a date change. The date should not be corrected between 7:30 pm and 12:30 am, as this is when the date changes automatically. The time can be adjusted on watches with this caliber in the outermost, i.e., third, crown position.
Taking care of the watch
Case
The casing of most of our watches is made from nickel-free stainless steel and sapphire crystal glass. The only thing harder than this glass is a diamond. In order to protect the steel, it is very slightly raised.
The cases of the golden NOMOS watches are made of 18 carat gold—as beautiful as they are precious. Since gold—both rose and white gold—is softer than steel, for example, you cannot prevent minor scratches—but it also records its life, the most beautiful way to tell your story.
Water-resistance
If your NOMOS watch is water resistant to 20 or 30 atm, you can go diving with it in accordance with the applicable DIN standard. A water resistance of 10 atm means that a watch is suitable for swimming or snorkeling. All other NOMOS models are water resistant up to 3 or 5 atm and prefer to stay dry. They are splash-proof, which means you can wash your hands with them, but it is better to take them off when swimming. It is also advisable to have the water resistance of a mechanical watch checked once a year by a retailer—it's a very quick process.
Magnetic fields
Magnetic fields can harm all mechanical watches, so it’s best to avoid them. If you notice any fixed rate deviation, your watch could have been magnetized. A watchmaker can fix this quickly.
Service
A mechanical watch should undergo a complete servicing around once every five years. This involves cleaning and replacing the watch oil lubricating it. We recommend you to take your watch to your retailer for this servicing.
Winding and setting the watch
Winding an automatic watch
If you wear your automatic watch regularly, you don't need to wind it. If the watch has been sitting still for a while, you will need to start your caliber manually; to do so, turn the crown clockwise (upward) a few times. Unlike hand-wound watches, NOMOS automatic models do not offer any resistance on the crown when they are fully wound. However, in neomatik calibers, the rotor stops when the watch is fully wound. This protects the mainspring.
Winding a watch with a screw-down crown:
With automatic watches that have a screw-down crown, every operation requires a small preparatory step, as the crown must first be unscrewed. To do this, turn it counterclockwise (downwards) between your thumb and index finger. You will feel the moment when the screw connection loosens, and at the same time, the crown will pop out slightly. Now you can wind the watch if necessary: turn the crown clockwise (upwards) a few times.
At the end of each action, return the crown to its original position and screw it down: upwards or clockwise, applying slight pressure toward the case at the beginning. On the cases of the Ahoi family, access to the crown is somewhat more difficult due to the reinforcement of the crown guard on both sides. It might be better to use only the edge of your fingertips. But after the first time, you'll definitely get the hang of it!
Setting the time of an automatic watch
To set the time, pull the crown out slightly to the second position on all calibers—except DUW 6101. The second hand will stop and the watch will not tick during setting. You may want to use a radio-controlled clock to set the hands correctly, so that you can press the crown back against the case and return it to its original position at the moment when your watch shows the correct time to the second.
With the DUW 6101 date caliber, the time is not set in the second but in the third crown position. To set the time, pull the crown out twice and then push it back against the case once you are finished.
Setting the hands of a watch with a screw-down crown:
To set an automatic watch with a screw-down crown, first unscrew the crown. To do this, turn it counterclockwise (downwards) between your thumb and index finger. You will feel the moment when the screw connection loosens, and at the same time, the crown will pop out slightly.
If you want to set the watch, pull the unscrewed crown out slightly to the second crown position for all calibers except DUW 6101. The second hand will stop and the watch will not tick while you are setting it. You may want to use a radio-controlled clock to set the hands correctly and, at the moment your watch displays the time accurately to the second, press the crown back against the case and return it to its original position after unscrewing it. With the DUW 6101 date caliber, the time is not set in the second but in the third crown position. To do this, pull the crown out twice—and then return it to its original position.
Afterwards, the crown should of course be screwed back in: upwards or clockwise and with slight initial pressure towards the case. In the cases of the Ahoi family, access to the crown is somewhat more difficult due to the reinforcement of the crown guard on both sides, so it might be better to use only the edge of your fingertips.
Setting the date on an automatic watch
a) The DUW 5101 caliber
You set the date by turning the hour hand back and forth between eight o'clock and one o'clock. If you want to correct your watch from September 1 to September 16, for example, you don't have to set it forward by 24 hours 15 times; 15 half turns will suffice. First, set your watch to one o'clock at night so that the date changes. Then turn the hands counterclockwise to 8 o'clock. Now turn them forward again to 1 o'clock: the date will change again. And so on. When you then set the time, please make sure that you pay attention to whether it is currently morning or afternoon—so that the date does not accidentally change at noon instead of midnight.
b) The DUW 6101 caliber
For watches with a neomatik caliber, the date can be set even faster—and in both directions. Pull the crown out to the second position and turn it clockwise or counterclockwise to the desired date. A half turn corresponds to one date change. The date can not be corrected between 7.30 and 12.30 at night. During this time, the date changes automatically. But if you do accidentally try to change the date during this time, don't worry. DUW 6101 is designed so that this will not damage the movement. If the date remains in an intermediate position, simply pull the crown out completely and set the time briefly to 1 o'clock—or back to 11 o'clock: The date display will then jump back to its original position. The time can be adjusted on watches with this caliber in the outermost, i.e. third, crown position.
Setting the date of a watch with a screw-down crown:
To set the date on an automatic watch with a screw-down crown, you must first unscrew the crown. To do this, turn it counterclockwise (downwards) between your thumb and forefinger. The moment when the screw is unscrewed is clearly noticeable and the crown will spring out slightly. You can now set the date.
Finally, do not forget to screw the crown back in. To do so, return it to its original position and screw it tight: upwards or clockwise and with an initial slight push towards the case. On the cases of the Ahoi family, access to the crown is somewhat more difficult due to the reinforcement of the crown guard on both sides, so it might be better to use only the edge of the fingertips.
Setting up a GMT or Worldtimer
A perfectly simple complication: Setting a NOMOS watch with a world-time function is very easy—and accomplished in just three steps.
a. Tangomat GMT
- Set the home time zone: Press the pusher above the crown until the city code representing the time zone you want to select as home appears in the window at 9 o'clock. This could be where you live, or a time zone you often work in.
- Synchronize the dials: Use the setting pin provided with the watch to press the corrector point recessed into the case at 8 o'clock repeatedly—until the hour hand on the main dial indicates the same hour as the one marked with the red arrow in the time window at 3 o'clock. This display is now synchronized with the time zone selected as the home time and remains constant, even if you set a new time zone using the world time pusher.
- Set the current time in the home time zone: Pull the crown to the first position and set the time on the main dial as usual. Pay attention to whether it is day or night in your reference zone and continue turning the hands until the 24-hour display in the window at 3 o'clock also shows the correct time. You can then use the pusher to move to other time zones without losing track of whether it is day or night at home.
b. Zürich Worldtimer
- Set the home time zone: Find the city on the city disk that represents the time zone you want to select as home. This could be where you live, or a time zone you often work in. Press the pusher above the crown until this city name is at 12 o'clock.
- Synchronize the dials: Use the setting pin supplied with the watch to press the corrector point, which is recessed into the case at 8 o'clock, repeatedly—until the hour hand on the main dial indicates the same hour as the time disc at 3 o'clock. This display is now synchronized with the time zone selected as the home time, and remains constant even if you set a new time zone using the world time pusher.
- Set the current time in the home time zone: Pull the crown to the first position and set the time on the main dial as usual. Pay attention to whether it is day or night in your home time zone and continue turning the hands until the 24-hour display at 3 o'clock also shows the correct time. You can then use the pusher to move to other time zones without losing track of whether it is day or night at home.
c. Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer
- Set the reference / home time zone: Find the code on the city disk that represents the time zone you want to select as home. This could be where you live, or a time zone you often work in. Press the pusher above the crown until this code is at 12 o'clock.
- Synchronize the dials: Use the setting pin supplied with the watch to press the corrector point, which is recessed into the case at 8 o'clock, repeatedly—until the hour hand on the main dial indicates the same hour as the 24-hour display on the sub-dial. The main dial is now synchronized with the time zone selected to represent home, and remains constant even if you set a new time zone using the world time pusher.
- Set the current time in the reference / home time zone: Unscrew the screw-down crown, pull the crown to the first position, and set the time on the main dial as usual. Pay attention to whether it is day or night in your reference zone and continue turning the hands until the 24-hour display on the sub-dial also shows the correct time. You can then use the pusher to move to other time zones without losing track of whether it is day or night at home.
Daylight Savings Time
If DST is in effect in your reference / home time zone but not in the time zone you want to travel to, you must repeat the synchronization (via the corrector point, see 2). To ensure the correct indication of the home time zone, make sure that the time disc at 3 o'clock shows one hour earlier than the main display. And reverse this when you return to a time zone with DST.

Please note: Ahoi, Tangente Sport and Club Sport neomatik 42 date, and Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer have screw-down crowns. Please screw it back in fully after each use to ensure that your watch remains water resistant. To do this, press the crown lightly against the case in the home position and turn it clockwise until you feel a clear resistance. Also important: Never pull out the crown under water. The pusher and the corrector point of Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer should also not be operated under water.

Winding a watch with twin mainspring barrels
Wind your watch by turning the crown clockwise between thumb and index finger until you feel a marked resistance. Your watch will thank you when you do this regularly. Fully wound, your watch has a power reserve of at least 84 hours due to its twin mainspring barrel. This also means the crown needs a few more turns until both barrels are fully wound.

Adjusting your bracelet
Usage and care of your bracelet
How should I look after my watch strap?
The leather of your Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap is so rich that you will never have to oil it. Like the light-color cowhide leather strap, it will not need any specialist care.
You can clean velour leather watch straps with the sort of brush that you would use for suede shoes or jackets.
The textile strap is best cleaned with water and soap or a mild detergent. Rinse the strap thoroughly afterwards to ensure that no traces of cleaning materials remain. Afterwards, leave it to dry before reattaching your watch.
NOMOS bracelets should be cleaned from time to time with lukewarm water to remove any dirt that may have collected between the links. If necessary, you can also use a mild soap and a soft toothbrush. After cleaning, always thoroughly rinse the bracelet with water and dry with a soft cloth. However, make sure that your watch is suitably water resistant first. If it is not water resistant to at least 10 atm, the bracelet must be removed from the case before cleaning.
Fitting the deployant clasp
Your retailer can fit the NOMOS deployant clasp in no time at all. However, with some fine motor skills and two screwdrivers (blade width 1.6 mm), you can also do this yourself.
Please check from time to time whether the screws of your deployant clasp are still sitting tight—and tighten them if necessary. To be on the safe side, you can apply a drop of screw lock lacquer to the head of the screw before tightening them. Learn how to fit the deployant clasp in this video.
How do I change the strap on my NOMOS watch?
Dark Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan, light velour, or waterproof textile? A new strap gives your wrist a whole new look! To learn how to attach a new strap to your watch, take a look at our strap exchange guide. All you need is a NOMOS watchstrap replacement tool and a few minutes of time. Learn exactly how to do it in this video.
General questions
How often should my watch go in for service?
As you go to the doctor once in a while or bring your car for a service, every mechanical watch also needs regular maintenance. At the latest after three to five years, a complete revision should be carried out by one of NOMOS's authorized dealers or a specialized watchmaker. After this time, it is quite possible that the lubrication may have evaporated. Where metal rubs against metal, wear and tear can be the result. We also recommend having your watch checked once a year for water resistance, and if necessary have it restored—sealing rings are made from rubber and could deteriorate under extreme heat, for example.
If my watch ever breaks down, how can I send it directly to Glashütte for repairs?
Most certainly! It is best if you send it in the original NOMOS packaging together with the warranty. Also, it would help us immensely if you could write a few lines describing what happened to the watch or what erratic behavior you have noticed. Our service department will look into it immediately and you will get your NOMOS back safe and sound as soon as possible.
Please send your watch to the following address and enclose the completed shipping form:
NOMOS Glashütte/SA
Ferdinand-Adolph-Lange-Platz 2

What are the conditions for services?
As a general rule, if you send your watch to us via a retailer, you can preapprove servicing up to a certain amount. This means that we can start work as soon as we receive your watch—shortening your wait. If servicing is more extensive than initially thought, we will get in touch. And of course: Even if you send your watch directly to us, you will be notified about the cost of servicing beforehand.
The haute horlogerie watches Lux and Lambda: Each one is unique and is treated as such during servicing and repairs. We will make an individual cost assessment—and then get in touch.
Warranty: All the services we carry out are guaranteed for two years. Waterproofing has a one-year guarantee. Problems resulting from improper treatment of the watch are excluded from the warranty.
All prices include the applicable value-added tax. Postage is extra.
Costs of maintenance and repairs
How much does a complete service cost in CHF?
After a few years—five at the most—every mechanical watch should be completely cleaned and inspected. How much does a case refurbishment cost in CHF?
A knock, bump, or fall can scratch even stainless steel and leave a trace on our watches’ sturdy cases—or even affect their waterproofing. To repair the damage to the case, or at least greatly reduce traces of use, we carry out the following procedures: cleaning of the case, several stages of grinding and polishing, straightening of the case horns if necessary, and restoration of the waterproofing. The costs for this depend on the model.
Manual winding: 75 CHF
Automatic winding: 85 CHF
World time: 110 CHF

Quality
How exact is my watch?
Both types of mechanical watches (hand-wound and automatic watches) always exhibit an element of tolerance as far as accuracy is concerned. This depends on the way a timepiece is worn, for example. Variations in temperature and air pressure, minor jolts and irregular winding can also have an influence. Mechanical watches from NOMOS Glashütte achieve an accuracy of less than ten seconds deviation per day. To ensure this, we regulate our mechanical calibers in six positions over the span of seven days. NOMOS Glashütte watches must achieve the best results in all dial and crown positions.
How are NOMOS watches adjusted?
Fine adjustment regulation (something that few manufacturers offer at all) ensures the greatest possible accuracy. Before leaving NOMOS Glashütte, all watches are thoroughly put through their paces—the NOMOS controllers spend several days testing them in six different positions to ensure each watch is working properly. NOMOS Glashütte uses three different regulation systems: the Triovis fine adjustment system, the DUW adjustment with the NOMOS swing system, as well as the swan neck fine adjustment found in our gold models, Lux and Lambda.
What is the NOMOS swing system?
The NOMOS swing system, also known as the escapement, assortiment, or reglage, is the heart of a mechanical watch and comprised of the balance, balance spring, pallet wheel, and pallet. It sets the pace and ensures that the watch ticks accurately. It is a declaration of independence for NOMOS Glashütte to be able to produce its own swing system, and a work of considerable watchmaking skill.
Does NOMOS use nickel-free stainless steel? And what other materials?
The so-called "nickel regulation" has been in effect since June 2000. It says that objects that touch the skin directly and for extended periods of time may only give off 0.5 micrograms of nickel per square centimeter of skin per week. In general, it doesn't matter how high the percentage of nickel in any given alloy is. Much more important is how much nickel is passed on to the skin.
NOMOS uses 316 L stainless steel for all cases and buckles. This type of stainless steel is not fully free of nickel, but it does not pass nickel on to the skin; the amount of nickel in the alloy is about 12 percent. Thus, the amount of nickel passed to the skin is less than 0.2 micrograms per square centimeter per week and far below the medicinally acceptable amount. Other stainless steel alloys might have a lower percentual amount of nickel in the alloy, but they pass more of it on to the skin.
Nevertheless, it is a fact that allergies don't give a hoot about regulations and limits. We only hear very, very rarely of cases where people were not able to tolerate the materials we use. Unfortunately, however, allergic reactions can never be ruled out all together. We advise people who are very sensitive to choose—in consultation with his or her physician—a material which, in all probability, will not provoke an allergic reaction.
It is our goal to use the best possible materials for you. And this is not only true for the steel we use. For example, our straps are tanned in an elaborate manufacturing process using vegetable lye only.
Handling
Can I swim or shower with my watch?
Particularly water-resistant watches have this feature noted on their casebacks. If your NOMOS watch has the addition 30 atm or 20 atm on its back then, according to the DIN standard, you can go diving with it. The description 10 atm reveals that your watch is suitable for swimming and snorkeling; 5 atm means that you can shower with your watch on. All other NOMOS watches are protected to 3 atm and generally prefer to stay dry; they are splashproof, so wearing them while washing your hands will not cause them any problems, but you should take them off before a dip in the pool. It is recommended to have the water resistance of a mechanical watch checked once a year by a retailer. It only takes a moment.
How, how often, and when should I wind my watch?
If you wear a NOMOS automatic, you don't have to do much. Your watch winds itself using the motion of your arm. The spring in the automatic movement tensions itself regardless of how the arm is moving.
We recommend to the owners of manually wound watches to wind your watches regularly—best is every morning. Then it will have enough energy for the whole day to withstand all of the trials and tribulations you might undergo.
Wind your watch by turning the crown clockwise between your thumb and forefinger until you feel a clear point of resistance. Once your watch is fully wound, your NOMOS has a power reserve of 43 hours. Without having to rewind, it will run for two days. Only the watches with date have a little less (42 hours), as the changing the date costs the watch energy.
Does it damage my NOMOS automatic watch if I always wind it by hand?
No—because NOMOS automatic watches have been installed with a clutch mechanism so that all parts in the movement stand still when it is wound by hand (which is also why you don’t feel any resistance while winding). The new extra-thin automatic movements DUW 3001 and DUW 6001 work slightly differently: When you wind them, you will soon notice that the resistance of the crown increases—this means that the watch has been given enough energy. The rotor stops when it is fully wound, which protects the fine caliber against wear. Either way: You can wind your automatic NOMOS watch without any worries, but the self-winding mechanism will also take care of this job for you.
I have a watch winder. What is the best setting for my NOMOS watch?
The best setting is 650 turns per day with alternating rotation direction.
What happens when my watch becomes magnetized?
There are a great number of magnetic fields in our everyday environment—including anywhere where electricity is present, such as close to personal electronic devices. Unfortunately, these magnetic fields can have a negative effect on a mechanical watch: they can affect the escapement parts of the caliber, stopping it from working properly. This is usually noticeable by a watch suddenly gaining time. However, losing time or stopping all together can also be a consequence of a watch becoming magnetized.
If you suspect that your watch has been magnetized, ask your retailer if they have a demagnetization machine. This can demagnetize your watch in only a few minutes, if required. Of course, you can also send your NOMOS directly to us in Glashütte. However, please note: since magnetization is not a defect of the watch, we are unfortunately unable to carry this service out under guarantee.

What is the benefit of registering my watch online?
In the event that you lose your watch, it can be very helpful if your watch and its serial number are listed with us. In fact, it happens quite frequently that an honest finder or the police contact NOMOS Glashütte about a watch that has been found. In such cases, we make sure that your watch finds its way back to you. Register your watch with us now.
What happens if my watch goes missing?
Please report the loss to us. If your watch was stolen, report it to the police and send us the contact details of the police station, along with the case reference number. This means that you can be more quickly reunited with your watch should it return to us.
Why are some NOMOS watches labeled with “Made in Germany” and others with only “Germany”?
The inscription “Made in Germany” began appearing on our watches in mid-2003. Later, when we reorganized production and began making our own in-house movements in April 2005, we also shortened the lettering on the face to read simply “Germany.” After a while, we changed this diminutive label back to “Made in Germany” because we realized it actually does have a nicer ring to it.
Quality
How long will my Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap last?
Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan is a particularly durable type of horse leather that has undergone careful processing by hand in the Horween tannery, located in Chicago, Illinois. The longevity of the strap will vary depending on wear and tear, but experience shows that these NOMOS straps last significantly longer than standard leather straps.
My Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan now has some ugly white spots. What does this mean?
If your strap was subjected to great changes in temperature it occasionally looks powdered afterwards. That is only grease that seeped from the material and can be easily polished away with a soft cloth.
Why does my Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan look a bit brownish?
Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan—a special horse leather—comes from the particularly massive hind quarters of Texan workhorses. For several months, our straps are tanned in an elaborate manufacturing process using pure vegetable lye. The coloration occurs only on the surface. Furthermore, the strap is cut at the edges. That means that the natural color of the leather after tanning remains at the lugs and on the underside. And as the basic material is usually brown, many of the straps have a slight brownish tone to them. This is not a sign of inferior quality, it rather confirms that we are dealing with a natural product.
Why are there dark stripes that appear to be part of a stamp on the back of my Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap?
The stripes that may be visible on the back of your NOMOS leather strap are part of an approximately hand-sized stamp. This is how the Chicago-based Horween Leather Company marks out its most valuable pieces of leather—also known as the shell—before sending them on to be used for other products. Such as the high-quality leather straps from NOMOS Glashütte. So this stamp is a certificate of authenticity from the producer; in other words, a sign of quality.
Handling
How long are the straps?
Please find the lengths of the straps below. All lengths are stated without clasps.
Size XS: long part 95 mm, short part 60 mm
Size S: long part 105 mm, short part 70 mm
Size M: long part 118 mm, short part 75 mm
Size L: long part 128 mm, short part 85 mm
Size XL: long part 140 mm, short part 95 mm
The NOMOS bracelet is available in two sizes: S (to fit sizes S to M) and M (to fit sizes M to L).
Size S: long part 95 mm, short part 60 mm
Size M: long part 110 mm, short part 77 mm
The NOMOS sport bracelet is available as standard in size XL so that it also fits larger wrists. You can easily shorten it, if needed, with the adjustment tool included with your order. Would you prefer if we adjusted it for you? In that case, simply tell us your wrist circumference when ordering your watch and we will send the bracelet pre-adjusted—along with the spare links, of course.
What does “lug width” mean?
The lug width is the distance between the watch’s two lugs. The easiest way is to measure this distance on one of your current straps.
On orders
Can I order a watch to try for size?
We understand purchasing a watch requires plenty of consideration: After all, it’s going to tick on the wrist for a lifetime. That’s why it’s important—and prudent—to try on a watch first. Only then can you see if and how it fits on the wrist. This is quite a simple task when done at your local retailer, and it’s virtually just as easy when you buy online.
There are a few things to keep in mind. We recommend treating the watch as an expert store salesperson would: The watch should always be set down on a clean and smooth surface—preferably on the NOMOS polishing cloth that the watch is sent with. You should also avoid scratches by always paying careful attention when rotating the watch. It’s also okay to fasten the watch strap—unless of course you like to remain extra cautious. However, trying on the watch does not involve wearing it in a manner as though it is your own. A store would also not accept this treatment.
If a watch is not handled with care and returns to us in the NOMOS Store with signs of usage, then we have to invoice you for the service costs required to restore the watch to its original condition.
You can return your order within 14 days and we will refund you the full purchase price if you are not satisfied.
How secure is shopping in the NOMOS Store?
You are ordering directly from the NOMOS Store. Our colleagues will deal with your request directly and package everything carefully by hand. And if something doesn’t go as planned, just get in touch. We will be happy to help you as quickly as we can.
We secure our website and all other systems with technical and organizational measures against loss, destruction, third-party access, alteration, or sharing of your details by unauthorized individuals. Please click here for further information.
Can I collect my watch personally in Glashütte?
Yes, that's possible. You can come visit our flagship store in Glashütte and collect your watch there. Please call in advance so we will have your watch ready for you.
How can I redeem a voucher?
There is a small field during the order process for redeeming a voucher. Simply enter the code on your voucher and click on “redeem voucher.”
Are watches purchased directly cheaper?
NOMOS Glashütte always offers the recommended retail price that also applies to other retailers. This is the only way that we can keep watch prices and sales transparent and reasonable.
Why aren’t all watches available to order immediately from the NOMOS store?
Sometimes it is unfortunately the case that you may have to wait for your desired model to become available again. The long delivery times are due to the very high demand for certain models. New models in particular are sometimes in short supply. We always try to match production to demand, but as a watchmaking company that creates the majority of parts by hand, we can only produce a certain amount of watches at a time. NOMOS timepieces cannot be produced in much larger quantities overnight—quality craftsmanship, created by hand, simply takes time. When you have seen the finished product, you will understand what we mean. And perhaps this anticipation makes waiting just a little bit sweeter.
Will my order come with the latest NOMOS catalog?
When you order a watch, it will be delivered in a NOMOS watch box made of poplar wood or a leather case (depending on the model chosen), the signed NOMOS warranty card with the NOMOS Store stamp, and polishing cloth. With every order we also include our latest catalog as well, so that you might learn a little more about your watch as well as others.
Can I make any special requests for my watch?
As we aim to keep our collection as compact as possible, we are only able to offer a limited range of customizations. These do not include changes to the dials or similar.
Can a laser engraving be carried out on the back of a watch?
Yes, this can be easily done with almost all NOMOS models.

Splitit installment payments at 0 % interest: How does it work?
We work with our partner Splitit to offer payment in installments.
Splitit allows you to split the total payment over a maximum of twelve months using your credit card. This service is free, involves no credit checks or applications, and means you can choose to split your payment into monthly installments.
To use this payment method all you need a credit card with a sufficient amount of available credit. Splitit authorizes the total order value—but don’t worry, this is not taken in full when you complete the purchase. At the time of shipping, only the first installment will be charged to your credit card. The remaining balance will be held on your credit card until the final payment has been made. However, a payment authorization for the outstanding amount of your purchase will be held during the full payment period. After each monthly payment, the amount held from your available balance will be reduced to the new remaining balance (the held amount might appear as “pending”).
Are there any extra fees involved?
No, this is an interest-free payment method with no additional fixed fees, service fees, interest, or hidden fees of any kind.
Which credit cards does Splitit support?
You can pay using Splitit with a Mastercard, Visa or American Express card (EUR, USD). Debit cards and pre-paid cards are not accepted.
Do I have to maintain the required available credit amount on my credit card?
Yes, you must maintain a sufficient amount on your credit card for both the monthly payment and for the full outstanding amount of your purchase during the full period of the plan. The authorized amount will be charged only in the event that a monthly payment is declined (the authorization hold might appear as “pending” on your credit card bill).
What happens if the ordered watch is not immediately available?
If the watch has a longer delivery time, we will start charging the monthly payments from the date of shipping.
What happens if I return the watch?
If you decide to not keep the watch, upon receipt of the watch we will reimburse the installments that have already been paid and cancel the outstanding payments.
U.S: Will I be charged Sales Tax?
Sales tax rates and rules vary by state and local jurisdiction. We apply sales taxes based on the shipping destination of your order to the U.S.. If it applies, sales tax will be automatically added to your order during the checkout process.
Canada: Will I be charged taxes?
For customers in Canada: We charge GST/HST and provincial sales tax for orders to Canada. Tax is based on the destination of your order and the nature of the product(s) purchased, and will be calculated at the time of checkout.
On delivery
How does my order reach me?
All watches are carefully and beautifully packaged by hand and shipped with all necessary documentation. A giftwrapped watch wallet, the NOMOS polishing cloth that comes with it, as well as protective film on both sides of the watch protect it during transport.
The brand name is not named on the parcel packaging to ensure gifts aren’t revealed ahead of time.
When do you ship my order?
We try to state our delivery times as exactly as possible and always keep them up-to-date. What do the different delivery times mean exactly?
Deliverable in two to four days means that we have the item you desire in stock. For prepayment, we will wait until your payment has arrived in our account. If you require express delivery, please get in touch.
We give longer delivery times when we do not have an item in stock. However, we have placed an order with our colleagues from NOMOS Glashütte or with our suppliers (such as in the case of printed materials). So if a watch is not immediately available in the NOMOS Store, please select prepayment while ordering and only pay when you receive an email from us announcing its imminent availability.
For all items with an unspecified delivery time, we would ask you to contact us to make a reservation or enquire further about the item. This applies sometimes, for example, to our gold watches (as we only produce a few). And also for models that are no longer in the current collection. You cannot order these items, but you can send us a non-binding declaration of interest in reserving them.
How do I check the availability of the items?
We carry the entire collection, but we don’t use NOMOS Glashütte’s stocks—the NOMOS Store has its own. This means that occasionally a watch is not available for a short period of time. If this does happen, we will let you know when it is due to be restocked, and get in touch as soon as it is. You will also find further beautiful things in the NOMOS Store, such as straps, stationery, and other special items from NOMOS Glashütte.
What does the NOMOS Store charge for shipping?
The same applies to all orders: You pay no shipping costs. For international orders, all custom charges, the relevant value-added taxes, as well as all other costs incurred, are already included in the price. So you only pay the price displayed in the NOMOS Store.
Shipping to the Philippines
For international orders shipped to customers to the Philippines, please be aware that local customs may ask you to submit a copy of your ID and a letter of "Request to File Informal Entry" (RTFI) before enabling delivery to your address.
You will normally have one week to provide this information before your order is returned to NOMOS Glashütte. There are no taxes, import duty or other fees due, however.
