With the soft curve of the rehaut, Aisslinger lends spatial depth to the Autobahn models, opening up the first level of the dial. In a second, elegantly curved arc, the designer leads to the small second dial, creating a separate, concave recess for that important hand that makes the precise timing of the NOMOS Swing System visible on the scale.
“We associate the Autobahn from NOMOS with travel, with looking at the speedometer and with a love for mechanical watches. So the Autobahn on our wrist is always going to be more than just a timepiece…” (Werner Aisslinger and Tina Bunyaprasit)

The Limited Edition Director’s Cut Autobahn by Werner Aisslinger and NOMOS Glashütte: perfect color contrasts, fascinating multidimensionality and a patented high-end date caliber.

“Only the mastery of NOMOS was capable of reproducing the grace of the graphic elements and hands.” (Werner Aisslinger)

Autobahn Director's Cut A7

This generous date display is positioned far to the outside on the dial. The quick adjustment in both directions operates using a patented mechanism developed by NOMOS.

Autobahn Director's Cut A9

Wind the watch, quickly set the date forward and backward, set the time. The crown with the NOMOS logo connects the watch to the DUW 6101 automatic caliber.

Werner Aisslinger uses the high luminosity of the extra-thick superluminova blocks for a striking visualization of the time at night. In the dark, a 240-degree scale ring in turquoise illuminates the dial.

The Director’s Cut Autobahn in an exciting color scheme

» Its sophisticated, extremely slim movement is what enabled us, as designers, to conceive of tantalizing aspects, such as the concave rehaut with dial and the inclined seconds.« Werner Aisslinger

Werner Aisslinger is one of the most renowned designers working today. His often very artistic creations are on display around the world. And now on the wrist—as a watch.

"The aim was to create an archetype. Something to withstand the test of time."

Technology

The patented date mechanism from NOMOS

The latest caliber from NOMOS Glashütte is ticking in Autobahn: neomatik date (DUW 6101). The new date mechanism can be set quickily and easily in both directions. This large caliber is only 3.6 millimeters in height—or in other words, very thin.

The date ring is placed around the movement in all NOMOS calibers. And neomatik date is particularly large. The first neomatik caliber with a date function manages to remain exceptionally slender thanks to its construction. The date display can take on more prominence in the design, and is particularly legible.
